Singing through the years…

I recently watched a video on Instagram showing women exercising, doing yoga etc. The narrator said something to the effect -'Instead of exercising, lifting weights, doing yoga etc., to get a tight booty, great abs, to look fit and younger, do it so you can pick up your grandchildren when you're older.’

Do it so that you can climb to the upstairs bedroom when you're old.

Do it so you can remain independent and handle daily activities with ease.

Do it so that you can feel feel strong and capable as you age.

Do it so you can maintain mental sharpness and overall well-being.

Do it so that you can stand, walk, run or hike into old age.

What do you still want to be able to do into the later years?

I also feel this way about singing. Improve your voice and sing for the simple joy of singing yes, but as you age sing to release the stress of life so you slow down the aging process.

Do it to enhance your lung capacity and breathing, making it easier to manage respiratory health as you get older.

Do it to boost your cognitive function and memory, keeping your mind sharp and engaged.

Do it to release those beautiful endorphins so you can tolerate pain a little differently as aches and pains set in.

Do to put your feelings into something so as you age you're still connected to your most precious emotions, feelings and expressions.

Sing to give your body a vibrational massage and stimulate your cerebrospinal fluid so it makes it all the way to your brain.

Do it to inspire others and share your passion and enthusiasm.

Do it so when you are in grief you can wail and sing through it all.

And...

Do it so you can still sing to your grandchildren even if you can't stand, walk, run or hike.
