Music to my Ears

This week, I had the pleasure of teaching The Natural Voice in Gibsons, BC, to a group of women who were experiencing this approach for the first time. Many of them had backgrounds in choirs or theatre, while others came simply to explore and open to new concepts in singing.

Even before we started I could sense the palpable energy of - ‘I’m going to work hard’ building in the air. I spoke a little about the nervous system and the voice and how we can be hard wired to work hard to sing, in spite of our best efforts. (lol)

I asked them to share one word that might sum up this feeling for them. They responded with these words - struggle, push, project, work, contract, try, reach etc.

Needless to say I was in the right place doing the right work for the right people.

At the end of the 3-hour workshop that was to help them to have the experience of the opposite of pushing and working hard they shared these words to reflect what they felt after doing the exercises - they said:

Light, relaxed, spacious, open, released, liberated, rested, relieved, massaged, vibrating, alive.

Ah, music to my ears indeed!
