It’s Time to Land

I hear the geese overhead, coming in for a landing in the field across from my house. This sound always brings me comfort. The noisy squawking overhead letting everyone know they mean business! They always bring with them a welcome return of warmer temperatures, green grass, and the fresh smells of the earth.

The Sound of Being…

When we sing, make sound, and vibrate into our bodies, it’s like coming home—just like the geese. The sound that grounds is the ground that sounds. Say that a few times and feel into it. Our ground is our body, our earth. And as we send our voice into our body with this awareness, we ground ourselves into the safety of now.

Where we can handle things. A little better.

Singing connects us with what is always waiting inside of us—the sedimentary layers of earth, bone, water, energy, and vibration. As we find the permission to turn toward our elemental body, the tightly bound earth can start to break apart beneath the light of our awareness.

Like light on water. Light on the land—head, shoulders, heart, pelvis, belly, legs. The vibration of the voice acts like a tiny jackhammer, breaking up the earth so we can receive the bounty of what’s here, inside of us, waiting—beyond all the knots, kinks, and bad habits that are bound up within.

Yes, the bounty. All of it. No stone left unturned. And it is not for the faint of heart.

It takes a courage like none other to journey into the unknown levels of earth, sand, and bone inside of us.

You can expect tidal waves, earthquakes, torrential downpours, wildfires, and rising heat levels. Sound familiar? Like what’s happening to the earth? Signs of life breaking up and getting space to feel alive.

Take care of your fires, your downpours, your earthquakes, and your tidal waves.

Sing each day. Break apart the grip of control that keeps you separate, scared, contracted, hidden—seemingly safe, but in truth, disconnected.

This bounty contains the full spectrum of colors—the emotions, the feelings. And the wonder of it all, I will say, is worth it.

Poet Rainer Maria Rilke - “Let everything happen to you, beauty and terror, just keep going. No feeling is final.
